RECTOR
Rev. Mark A. Michael
Father Mark Michael is a native of rural Western Maryland. He is a graduate of Duke University and Wycliffe Hall, Oxford. Prior to moving to Potomac, Father Mark served Saint Timothy’s Episcopal Church in Herndon, Virginia; Christ Episcopal Church in Cooperstown, New York; and Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church in Sharpsburg, Maryland and was assistant chaplain and a history and religion master at Saint James School.
In their free time, Fr. Mark, Pastor Allison, and their two teenage sons enjoy outings to historical and religious sites, absurdly random roadside attractions, and anywhere you can find ice cream.
ASSISTANT PASTOR
Rev. Dr. Allison Michael
At St. Francis, Pastor Allison’s ministry focuses on pastoral care, youth and family ministry, theological teaching, and sacramental preparation. Raised in North Carolina, she holds a PhD in historical theology (the history of biblical interpretation) from The Catholic University of America, along with degrees from the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg (M.Div) and Duke University (A.B).
She’s most passionate about supporting people of all ages as they encounter Christ in the Scriptures and as they develop and nurture an active prayer life. While the constant stress and striving of life in the DMV leave much to be desired, she’s grateful that St. Francis is a strong and faithful community where so many people have found renewal in God’s love.
