Born and raised in Montgomery County, he has been a member of St Francis since his baptism there as a baby! Maria is a parishioner who has taken on the role of Parish Administrator. In this role, she oversees the church’s day-to-day operations, including facilities and maintenance, business administration, clergy support, and coordination with tenants, staff, volunteers, and vendors to help ensure the church’s ministries are well-supported and its resources are thoughtfully stewarded. Born in Zambia, she was educated in South Africa, England, and the US. She holds a B.Sc in Civil Engineering (Environmental), an MSCE in Construction Management from Stanford University, and an MBA from Kellogg Graduate School of Management.

She thrives in the complexity of the St. Francis campus and, having found a cultural and philosophical fit with Fr. Mark and Pastor Allison’s approach, finds it rewarding to use her skills to support its team and community.

Outside of work, Maria enjoys balancing life’s many interests: spending time at the barn and catching up over brunch with her college-age and high school daughters, dancing, listening to live music with the ballroom and social dance communities, and discovering parks, scenic trails, historic small towns, and other local treasures—often with her dog by her side.

Sarah serves as the Parish Life, Outreach Coordinator, and Sunday School Director at St. Francis. She is married to Kenneth Tester, and together they have three children who you will see running and playing in the parish hall. Sarah holds a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Special Education from Indiana State University.

Before being called to take this role at St. Francis, Sarah was a teacher and a stay-at-home mother.

She cares deeply about fellowship between parishioners and creating a space where people want to come to church to be together. She is also passionate about Sunday School and teaching young minds about Jesus in a way they can understand.

When Sarah is not at St. Francis, she and her family enjoy exploring the DMV and all it has to offer!
